Lists of the testing sites for the oral certification exam

Interpreters for the Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Korean languages who have already passed the written portion of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters’ test may schedule their oral exam. Please continue to see the list of cities, and these cities are updated continuously.

If you have passed the written exam and interpret for a language other than the five languages listed above, you will be put in a database and informed when the oral exam in your language is available.

 
Instructions on how to schedule - you must schedule ONLY through the National Board staff. Complete scheduling instructions are after the list below.

TO SCHEDULE: If you have passed the written exam and wish to schedule the oral exam, send us by email your intent to test at one of these sites above with your name, language and complete contact information to staff [at] certifiedmedicalinterpreters [dot] org  DO NOT CALL - email the staff at the National Board only for scheduling at both the IQT and the National Board sites.

Please note: A few locations have been set aside for onsite testing of staff interpreters. These locations may not be on the above lists. Please email to inform the National Board that you intend to take the oral exam in your health care facility.

As additional testing sites become available in the future, they will be added here on the web site.
 
The sites on this page are for the oral certification exam. You must have passed the written exam to schedule the oral exam.  The written exam continues to be available in hundreds of cities around the country and are on demand. For a complete list of locations for the written exam, click here.
 
You have six months after the date you pass the written exam to schedule the oral exam by contacting the National Board. If for some reason (such as illness or death in the family) you need an extension, you must contact staff [at] certifiedmedicalinterpreters [dot] org after the six months have expired.
